dj James Andersen
Music has always been a part of James Andersen's life, but
little did he know that he would be playing for people around the world. What
started more as a "interest", turned out to be much more,. Starting small,
and recently playing the BLACK & BLUE Main Event in Oct. for thousands at
Olympic Stadium. The dj world is a very intense journey that one only can understand
after years of experience, but it is very rewarding as well.
The crowds who come to hear him on any given night are taken on a ride, as it is a
release of energy, and bonding with those on the dance floor. "I remember when
I was about 6-8 years old, and I would beg my parents to take me out to the
clubs with them. It was the mid seventies, and the music was amazing. Almost
every record you would hear was a hit, and I was immediately on the dancefloor
from the moment we walked in with 20-30 year olds around me!" His parents gave
him the chance to see the world with them, and that was just the beginning of
his creativity.
At this point James feels as if he has come "full circle" and there are no plans to
stop what he does best anytime soon. "In New York City, there is such a need for groundbreaking
music and invention, and the great thing is that it constantly changes from decade to decade; and
music is one thing that brings all people together."
There is however, more to it than just "playing" records. He constantly changes with
the times, and considers djing to be alot like "theatrics". "Dj’ing to me is an emotional outlet....you
can take people on a ride, and you are the driver!!"
Production has also been another big part of his job as well, and James now is truly finding his
own unique sound as most people do. Working on quite a few projects, he has even used his own
voice in 3 tracks so far. His latest work includes
singer/songwriter Ari Gold, as well as an "original " production on Peter
Rauhofers' "LIVE @ ROXY 3", entitled "It's a Jungle" by The Tribal Gang, and it also includes the
talents of one of James' friends for years, Mitch Amtr@k. "Mitch LOVES the microphone... and he's a natural; total
NEW YORKER!"
His upcoming dates as well as Top records can be found at www.jamesandersen.com.
Soon, it will also allow his fans a short "Preview" of tracks he is working on, so they can literally be "in the studio" with him.
